ERIC JACOBSEN

Eric Jacobsen is a Tokyo based musician who has been a regular on the children’s television program, “Eigo de Asobo” on the Japanese national public broadcasting station, NHK, since 1998. His original theme song, “What do you like to do?” is well known throughout Japan among the 2~8 year old set and their mothers. As of April 2006, Eric has a new corner and theme song called “Let’s Play Together!” April, 2008 marks his 11th year with “Eigo de Asobo.”

Eric performs his one man shows for kids and with his kid’s rock band “E-JAM” to audiences throughout Japan.

In addition to his on camera and live stage activities, Eric works behind the scenes in music and content production for TV shows, commercials and educational materials. His work includes original music for the cartoon character Shimajiro’s many DVDs (Benesse), the theme music for the weekly NHK educational science TV program, “Fushigi World,” (2005~2007) as well as theme music and incidental music for “Bean World,” a weekly animated corner on Fuji TV (2007). In 2008 Eric has written instrumental music for episodes of NHK’s “Terebi E-hon.”

Eric’s two CDs of original music for Eigo de Asobo, “Hi Eric!” and “Dancing Letters” (avex io kids) are long sellers and his CD book, Eric to Eigo de Utaou!” (ALC) is in it’s 4th printing. 2008 has seen the release of a CD of favorite kids songs arranged and performed by Eric, “Eric no Tanoshii Eigo no Uta,” (HiHi Records, Victor Entertainment) and he is very excited about the release of his 1st CD of original E-JAM band songs, “Eric and the E-JAM Band.” (Eclipse Productions / dfb music)

The (more adult oriented) Eric Jacobsen Band plays regularly in and around the Tokyo area. Eric is originally from western Massachusetts and came to Japan via Boulder, Colorado.
